Who needs therapy? Jeez, these days, who doesn't?! I believe we can all benefit from an hour a week dedicated to introspection & increased self-understanding in a warm, nonjudgmental environment where we feel safe and supported.
You may be struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, or hopelessness over a loss of control over your life in an increasingly scary, confusing, and isolating world.
Maybe you're feeling stuck in old, unproductive patterns and need encouragement, accountability, and motivation to envision and create the life and relationships you truly want.
Or perhaps you're actually doing pretty well on a day-to-day, functional level, and you're ready to take an existential deep dive with a pink-haired fellow seeker, explore life's big questions, and wrestle with What It All Means (for YOU!).
Whatever brings you to therapy, my goal is to support your growth, healing, and fulfillment, and to foster a sense of playfulness and flexibility in your overall approach to life, death, and everything in between.
Humor, playfulness, and the not-infrequent F-bomb - when appropriate & appreciated! - are hallmarks of my approach, as I believe laughter and a humor-oriented mindset are powerful coping and healing mechanisms. To steal a line from one of my favorite movies (Steel Magnolias): "Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion!" I'd be honored to help you laugh through yours.
I work with single, partnered, and "ever-single" adults 18+, both online and in-person at my office in Long Beach, just off the 405 near CSULB. I also work with a small number of loving, committed couples to create shared strategies for better communication of needs, conflict resolution, and overall life planning.
My fee is $185 per 55-minute individual session and $250 per 75-minute couples session. I do not take insurance, but can provide mental health services as an out-of-network provider, for which you may be reimbursed in part or in full, depending on your plan. I also see a limited number of sliding-scale clients based on extreme financial hardship and clinical need.
I have a master's degree in Clinical Counseling from Cal State Fullerton, a bachelor of fine arts degree in Drama from New York University, and a certificate in Veterinary Social Work from the University of Tennessee.
I have a strong interest in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, and plan to pursue additional credentialing in this incredibly exciting, newly "legitimate" (but unfortunately still legally dubious) area of mental health treatment in the near future.
